FBI Shuts Down BidenCash Darknet Marketplace, Seizes $17M in Crypto
The FBI and U.S. Secret Service have dismantled BidenCash, a prominent darknet marketplace specializing in stolen credit card data and compromised credentials. The operation, which generated over $17 million in cryptocurrency revenue since 2022, saw the seizure of 145 domains, including clearnet and onion sites.
BidenCash trafficked more than 15 million stolen credit cards and personal records, leveraging crypto payments for anonymity. In a brazen move, the platform released 3.3 million cards for free between October 2022 and February 2023 to attract users.
The takedown involved coordinated efforts with Dutch National Police and cybersecurity agencies. While no specific cryptocurrencies were named in the seizure, the case underscores ongoing regulatory scrutiny of digital assets' role in cybercrime.
